1928 – 2003
WATERVILLE – Sister Roselle Dionne, CSJ, 75, died Sunday, June 8, at Mount St. Joseph.
She was born Jan. 27, 1928, in Lewiston, daughter of the late Rosario and Jeannette (Martin) Dionne. She was educated at St. Peter’s School in Lewiston and at the Academy of St. Joseph in South Berwick, where she graduated in 1946. She obtained her B.A. degree from St. Joseph’s College in Standish. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Lyon in 1949, in Auburn, and made her first profession in Aug., 1951.
She taught for 30 years in the Catholic schools of Jackman, Winslow, Lewiston, Auburn, South Berwick, and Jay. She served as secretary at St. Joseph’s Child Care Center in Auburn; she also worked at Fontbonne Community, at Mount St. Joseph.
In her retirement years, Sister Roselle volunteered her services by visiting and bringing Holy Communion to the sick people at Inland Hospital in Waterville, and at two local nursing homes: Willows and Mount St. Joseph.
She is survived by two sisters, Jeannine Dionne and Yzette Vachon of Lewiston; and a brother, Gilles Dionne from Hawaiian Garden, Calif. She was predeceased by a brother, Rev. Martin Dionne, O.P.; a sister-in-law, Yvette Dionne; and a brother-in-law, Wilfred Vashon.
