YORK (AP) – A construction contractor from New Hampshire remained in critical condition Tuesday after a roof collapsed on a garage addition he was working on at a Cape Neddick home.
William Frommer of Portsmouth was being treated at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
York Police Detective Thomas Cryan said Frommer, 49, was working Monday with a second man on the addition when the roof collapsed.
Cryan said Frommer was in cardiac arrest and wasn’t breathing when rescue personnel responded. He had extensive injuries to the head and upper torso.
Emergency crews extricated Frommer from beneath a pile of rafters.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident.
