LEWISTON – American Red Cross donors in the Lewiston area will have the chance to donate blood at an upcoming blood drive. The Central Maine Medical Center will hold a blood drive from 6:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 13. Call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Flag ceremony

AUBURN – The Cub and Boy Scouts of New Auburn American Legion Post 153 will perform a ceremony to retire old and damaged American flags in the post parking lot at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 14. Part of the parking lot will be taped off for the event. Everyone is welcome to observe the proper way to honor flags.

Flag service

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Elks Lodge with Exalted Ruler Christopher Gendron will honor the nation’s flag at a special Flag Day service at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14. The service will be conducted by lodge officers.

Flag Day honors the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the national flag by the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. The service, approximately 45 minutes, will give an inspirational look at the history of the flag.

Nature walk

NEW GLOUCESTER – Guided nature walks at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village will be offered several times this season. The two-and-a-half-hour walks are offered at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The route takes participants down to Loon’s Point on Sabbathday Lake and along to the footbridge at Aurelia’s Cascade. The next walk will be held on Saturday, June 14.

Cemetery group

DURHAM – The annual meeting of the Harmony Grove Cemetery Association will be held at the home of Duncan Chesley, 495 Davis Road, at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14. All members are welcome.

Ashlar Lodge

AUBURN – Ashlar Lodge 105, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, will meet Monday, June 16, at the Masonic Temple, 1021 Turner St.

Family picnic

LEWISTON – Emilien Hamann Chapter 11, Disabled American Veterans, will hold a family picnic in lieu of a June meeting from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Range Pond shelter, rain or shine. Vacation school

LEWISTON – The Lewiston/Auburn Salvation Army is accepting preregistration for Daily Vacation Bible School. All children 5 to 12 are invited to join from 9 a.m. to noon June 23 to 27 at 67 Park St. The theme will be “Lighthouse Kids Shining God’s Light.” Call Jim Downs at 783-0801 to register.

The program offers five days with Bible-based story time, crafts, recreation, music and drama skits.

Graduation, with certificates and awards presentation, will be held for children and parents on Sunday, June 29. Limited space is available.

Meeting change

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Chapter of the Compassionate Friends, until further notice, will meet on the second Wednesday of each month. There will be no meetings on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
