NORWAY – Stephens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is displaying the artistic talent of area artist Carole Rickards, Hammond Hill Designs, Peru. Her paintings, which include both watercolors and acrylics, are available for viewing in the hospital’s drawing lab and hallways through July 10.

Rickards began painting as a child, with encouragement from her family. With support from her husband, she has continued to pursue her love of painting nature. Her strong desire to share her experiences, knowledge and techniques with others, led her to begin offering art classes to adults and children. Rickards attended the University of Maine at Augusta, and lives with her husband in Peru. Her artwork can also be seen at the Norway Sidewalk Art Show on July 12, as well as craft shows and art exhibits throughout western and southern Maine.

Lee Bean, a long-time member of the SMH Auxiliary, is chairwoman of the auxiliary’s Artist of the Month program. Arrangements for displaying artwork are made through the Stephens Memorial Hospital Development Office, by calling Diane Dickerman, development assistant, at 743-1562, extension 778. Artists donate a portion of the proceeds from art sales to the SMH Auxiliary.

Stephens Memorial Hospital is part of Western Maine Health, a member of the MaineHealth family.
