After reading the article, “Killer allowed to spend time outside hospital,” I am appalled to think that Mark Bechard will be allowed to spend time in public places (June 4). If he is that mentally unstable, then who is to say that he won’t do it again?

Someone who is capable of killing two people and attacking two others should not be allowed to go back on the streets. Although the article stated that he had never “blown up on anyone,” who can really say that he never will?

The judge is allowing Bechard to go out with one-on-one supervision, but what might happen if he overpowers the supervisor? Will our community be safe?
