Lewiston is in desperate need of a skateboard park for the younger generation. It seems that Lewiston has plenty of facilities for traditional sports such as football, baseball and other activities. Why has skateboarding been left out?
The only places we have to skate are public businesses or schools, which we are banned from. I have been permanently removed from the Bates College campus premises and do not have a place to skateboard.
I know that I am not the only one who believes in making a skate park, because other skaters have already complained about it and asked for one to be built. Many complain how we ruin benches, rails and stairs, but that wouldn’t happen if we had a skateboard park right here in Lewiston.
I think the old Ames department store building would be a great place to have one.
