The taxpayers of Maine should thank all our elected Republicans, and especially Rep. David Trahan, for their recent victory in funding the Office of Program Evaluation and Government Accountability.

OPEGA is an unbiased accounting program that will assure that our tax dollars are being used wisely and are not misspent or misappropriated. It’s about time!

Our Maine government and all its agencies will now be under scrutiny and held accountable.

I, for one, am hopeful that holding each agency accountable will eliminate waste and corruption.

Thank you, Rep. David Trahan and all the legislators who voted for this very important program.
