1931 – 2003
LEWISTON – Earle Roland Farrington, 71 of Jay died Sunday, June 15, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 28, 1931 in Jay a son of the late Roland B. and Ruby L. (Riggs) Farrington. Mr. Farrington was in the last class to attend the Little Red School House. He was a graduate of Farmington High School class of 1951.
In February 1952 he enlisted with the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. For several years he worked at Norwalk Shoe in North Jay. For over 25 years he worked for the Maine Department of Transportation retiring Jan. 29, 1993.
He was a member of the American Legion, Sportsman Alliance of Maine. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting, playing cards, and going to camp with the guys. In 1956 he married Joan B. Goings in Farmington.
Mr. Farrington is survived by daughter, Joyce E. Plante and her friend, Brian Moody of East Dixfield, daughter, Donna M. Paling and her husband Gary of Wilton, daughter, Jane A. Farrington of Farmington, daughter, Carol A. Davis and her husband Rick of New Sharon; son, Charles O. Wiles Garland, son, Bickford L. Wiles and his wife Tracy of Waterboro; sister, Beverly Karkos and her husband Leo of Orlando, Fla., sister, Freda Stanley of New Port Richey, Fla.; brother, Phillip Farrington and his wife Joanne of Temple; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson, Cole; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Paul Gordon; and a nephew, Michael Karkos.
