DIXFIELD – Things will be jamming in more ways than one Saturday, June 21, as Dixfield residents converge along Main Street to celebrate the town’s 200th birthday.

Dixfield, Maine’s 147th town, was incorporated June 21, 1803.

Events start at 10 a.m. with a commemorative stamp offered at the post office until noon.

Then at 1 p.m. the bicentennial parade will be launched down Weld Street from Dirigo High School and end at the Village Green.

A birthday barbecue will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Village Green with food cooked by the Lions Club. Dessert will be birthday cake from the Cake Decorating Contest.

Then from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Village Green, there will be a parking lot dance with music provided by Tom Kelly Jr.

Chairs will not be provided at the Village Green events.
