BETHEL – The Board of Appeals will consider a proposal by Robin and Scott Mills at hearing at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, in the Town Office.

The Mills are appealing a Planning Board decision that denied a sign application for their Bethel’s Best Restaurant project. Formerly known as Breau’s Pizza and Subs, the restaurant is located at 160 West Bethel Road (Route 2).

For the past 15 years, Breau’s had an internally-lit sign at their location. According to a June 5 letter, the Mills want to change the sign’s wording, not its size or structure. They therefore requested the hearing based on the waiver and appeals provision of Bethel’s sign ordinance.

In the letter, the Mills say that they will suffer hardship if the ordinance is strictly enforced.

The hearing will follow the board’s annual election of officers and approval of minutes from its last hearing, which took place on Dec. 10, 2002.
