PORTLAND (AP) – Eleven members of the 265 Combat Communications Squadron of the Maine Air National Guard were scheduled to return to Maine.

Six squad members were expected to land at the Portland Jetport at 6:40 p.m. on Monday. The remaining five were scheduled to arrive at the jetport several hours later.

The squad deployed in February for a planned 90-day tour in Kuwait. That tour was extended by about three weeks due to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The deployed members were assigned to Al Jaber Air Base, Kuwait and other locations in Southern Iraq, supporting communications requirements for the command structure at those bases.

The remaining 13 members of the unit, who are still in Kuwait, are scheduled to return to Maine in early July.
