1908 – 2003

Lewiston – Mary B. Ridley, 95, retired teacher, died Wednesday, June 25 at Montello Manor.

She was born in South Paris on May 3, 1908, the daughter of Harold and Maude Lunt Briggs. Following her graduation from Bates College in 1929, she taught in Needham, Mass. She returned to Lewiston the following year and worked at the Lewiston Trust Company until her marriage to Paul Ridley in 1932.

She was active for many years in the PTA and was a member of the Women’s Literary Union. In 1958, she began teaching at Sabattus High School, joining the staff of Edward Little High School as an English teacher in 1961 until her retirement in 1976.

She resided at the Auburn Home for Aged Women from December 1995 to January 2003.

She is survived by her son, Charles Ridley of Palo Alto, Calif.; her grandson, Wallace Ridley of Salt Lake City, Utah; her granddaughter, Marie Ridley of Palo Alto, Calif.; and her nephew, Dr. Fred B. Jordan of Oklahoma City, Okla.
