BETHEL – The Mahoosuc Community Band presents a program of music for concert band at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 7, in the gazebo on the Bethel Common. Included are show tunes, marches and other popular favorites. Rain location at the West Parish Congregational Church on Church Street.
Nature outing
OXFORD – The Twin Town Nature Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, in the WalMart parking lot (south side near Route 26) and carpool to Freeport to explore Winslow Park and Wolf Neck Woods State Park. Bring a picnic lunch. Visiors are welcome. For information, call John Crumpton at 539-2902.
Camera Club
PARIS – The Oxford Hills Camera Club will be meeting at the Haskell House in South Paris, next door to the First Congregational Church on East Main Street. Meetings will begin at 6 p.m. on every other Tuesday on the following dates: July 8, July 22, Aug. 5, Aug. 19 and Sept. 2. For summer information call 743-1643. BRYANT POND – The Whitman Memorial Library announces that Jeannette Baldridge will be the speaker at the book discussion group at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10. The public is invited. Balbridge has written numerous columns for the Sun Journal and will be sharing some of her articles.
Garden speakers
PARIS – Clay Kirby and Bruce Watt, representing the Maine Cooperative Education headquarters in Orono, will offer a two-part talk and walk beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at the McLaughlin Foundation Garden and Horticultural Center. A boxed lunch will separate the two talks on plant pests and disease sleuths and is included in the $24 fee. Preregistartion is rquired by calling 743-8820.
Bridge results
NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge played a Howell movement on June 27 with five tables. First place was won by Errol Libby and Don Johnson. Pete Cummings and Richard Allen came in second. Marta Clements and Rolande Poulin were third and Woody Mercier and Anna Cormier were fourth.
Bridge players are invited to attend the games at 9 a.m. every Friday at Fare Share Commons on Main Street. There is municipal parking behind the building. No partner is necessary. For more information call Rowena Palmer 743-2882.
