1947 – 2003

LEWISTON – Richard R. “Dick” Parent, 55, of 211 Randall Road, died Monday, June 30, following a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston July 5, 1947, a son of Edmond and Sylvia (Thibodeau) Parent. He grew up in Grand Isle and graduated from Madawaska High School.

“Dick” worked as a truck driver his whole life and eventually established his own trucking business in Manchester, Conn., known as Parent Transfer which he owned and operated for many years.

While living in Connecticut, for many years, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well driving the open highways of the east coast. He was also a member of the B.P.O. of Elks Club.

He leaves a daughter, Kim Picard and her husband Elliott of Manchester, Conn.; a son, Gene of Manchester, Conn.; his mother, Sylvia of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Ciara and Brandon; three sisters, Tania Bard and husband Paul of Manchester, Conn., Tina Couturier and husband Don of Coventry, Conn., and Tricia Brown and husband Dean of Lewiston; and three brothers, Harold of Manchester, Conn., Kenneth and wife Carol of Lakeworth, Fla., and Dale and wife Sharon of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by his dad, Edmond in 1991; and a brother, Gene.
