The Maine Tennis Association championships, the second of four major events on this year’s MTA outdoor calendar, are scheduled for this weekend, July 12 and 13, at the Waynflete School sports complex in Portland.
Competition is scheduled in men’s and women’s open singles and doubles. There will also be play in men’s 35-and-over, 45-and-over and 55-and-over singles divisions.

The following weekend is the third major event on the MTA schedule, the Betty Blakeman Memorial at Yarmouth High School. That tournament is held in conjunction with the Yarmouth Clam Festival and is a fundraiser for the Maine Cancer Society.
Primary competition will include men’s and women’s open singles and doubles, mixed doubles, and men’s 35-and-over. Deadline for entries is Thursday, July 17 at 10:30 p.m. Contact Atkinson for more details.
