LEWISTON – The Downtown Neighborhood Association will hold a Housing Forum and Community Dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St.

A potluck dinner will be held before the meeting. Singer-songwriter Ethan Miller will entertain and there will be a short video. For details call 784-2380.

Children’s Day

BOWDOINHAM – The Bowdoinham Farmers’ Market will host a Children’s Day from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 11, at the Waterfront Park. There will be a petting farm featuring chicks, bunnies, sheep, a goat and other surprises.

The Bowdoinham String Band, a group of acoustic musicians and singers, will entertain. Styles include old-time and Celtic dance music, swing and gypsy jazz, Appalachian songs, bluegrass and Renaissance-era melodies.

Kids Crusade

AUBURN – The Court Street Baptist Church, 129 Court St., will host a Kids Crusade for children in grades kindergarten through six grade from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, July 13 to 17.

Child Evangelism Fellowship will conduct “The Great Global Adventure.” Each night will feature Bible stories, games, prizes and snacks. Parents are welcome to attend.

LEWISTON – A flower-planting potluck will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at the Knox Street Garden, 63 Knox St. Those interested are invited to bring a pot of food and a pot to plant in. Leavitt reunion

TURNER – The Leavitt Institute class of 1963 will hold its 40th reunion at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 27, at the home of Bob and Doreen Maxwell, Pratt Road.

The class is seeking the following members: David Newton, Sam Hutchinson, Carson Ramsdell, John Harkins and Lilly Mae Cormier.

Crowned king

LEWISTON – Jarred Vandeymark, age 2, was crowned king at the Tri-State Sunburst baby contest held in Portland.

Prizes included three trophies, one for the prettiest eyes, also two crowns. He also won a savings bond. He will go on to another contest in August in Georgia.

Jarred is the son of Tanya St. Pierre and Clarence Vandeymark, grandson of Sonia Roberts and great-grandson of Germaine St. Pierre, all of Lewiston.

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on July 7 were: N/S, first, Lue Bilodeau and Roger Briggs; second in A, first in B and C, Claire Tewhey and Charles Bartlett; third, Anna Vitiello and Randy Silver; fourth, Helen Little and George Vogt; second in B, Shirley Banks and Janice Wolfe; third/fourth in B, Rolande Poulin and Amy McGuinness with Betty and Doug Sise.

Scholarships

SKOWHEGAN – The Margaret Chase Smith Library announces the winners of the seventh annual Margaret Chase Smith Essay Contest. The first prize of $500 went to Emily Parker, who attends Greely High School in Cumberland. The recipient of the $250 award for second place was Rachel Culley of the Kents Hill School in Readfield.
