BOWIE, Md. (AP) – Jeremy Owens hit two home runs and had four RBIs, while Sean McGowan added a homer of his own, along with three RBIs, to lead the Portland Sea Dogs to a 9-1 victory over the Bowie Baysox.
McGowan’s two-run homer down the left field line against Baysox starter Jeff Wilson in the top of the second gave Portland (52-45) a 2-0 advantage.
Bowie (49-52) scored a lone run in the bottom of the inning and the Sea Dogs answered right back with a run in the top of the third, making it 3-1, where it stood until the seventh inning.
An infield single by McGowan scored a run in the seventh and a solo homer by Owens gave Portland a 5-1 advantage after eight innings.
In the ninth Owens hit his second home run, a three-run shot to center, as part of a four-run inning.
Jake Chapman relieved Portland starter Ryan Cameron after 3.2 innings and earned the win.
