1928 – 2003

LEWISTON – Jeanne G. Fournier, 74, of 28 Bolduc St., wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully at home after a long illness. She was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 26, 2003.

Born in Lewiston, Aug. 20, 1928, the daughter of Eugene and Rose-Anna Jalbert Gelinas, she married Ernest Fournier on Sept. 4, 1948 at Ss. Peter and Paul’s Church.

She was educated at St. Peter’s School. She worked for many years at the Bates Mill and as a top stitcher for Shapiro Bros.

She then became co-owner with her husband of Screen Printing Co. until her retirement in July of 1990. After her retirement, she worked as a part-time packer during the Christmas rush at L.L. Bean in Freeport for 4 years. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She was very active with the Ladies of Ste Anne. She was a member of Holy Cross Parish, Holy Cross Senior Citizens, Horizons/55, Lifetime Member of the Good Sam Club and Lewiston Senior Citizens. She enjoyed listening to country music, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and also traveling with her husband around the United States and Canada.

Survivors include her husband Ernest of 54 years; two daughters, Doris Young of Whitesboro, N.Y., Joline and her husband, Robert Cloutier, of Lewiston; one son, Pierre Fournier and his wife, Brenda, of Rome; eight grandchildren, John and Danielle St. Pierre, Michelle, Jennie and Stacy Cloutier, William, Brian and Jamie Fournier; two sisters, Sr. Blanche Gelinas sgsh, of St. Hyacinth, Canada and Cecile Gelinas; one brother, Robert and his wife, Lucille Gelinas, all of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Imelda Roy, Bernadette Fournier and Therese Houle; and three brothers, Ferdinand, Francois and Raymond.
