JAY – School Committee members will hold a special meeting Thursday to consider nominating a new superintendent.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Middle School library.

A search committee, consisting of board, staff and community members and the town manager conducted interviews with candidates over the last couple weeks. Eleven applications were received but one was late and considered ineligible for review.

The new superintendent will replace Stephen Cottrell of Manchester who has been hired as superintendent of the Monmouth School System.

During the special meeting, School Committee members will also consider the nomination of Krystal LeClerc as grades five and six language arts teacher. The board had approved a nomination of Reed Dyer to fill that position at its meeting earlier this month, he declined due to accepting a position elsewhere, said Deb Holland, Jay schools business manager.

Holland also noted that the regular School Committee meeting will be Thursday, Aug. 14, rather than Aug. 7.
