NORWAY – Healthy Oxford Hills believes any day is a good day for a walk.

According to Joe Wyman, project director, Thursday will be a perfect day to start walking by joining the Passport to Fitness walk program.

The program will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Ripley Medical Building at 193 Main St., with stretching to loosen up. After that, walkers can begin the program with a walk of a length of their choosing.

The first 300 participants will receive a fitness walk booklet, a pedometer and a visor after registering.

Tracey L.M. Geary, director of development for Stephens Memorial Hospital, said the program, which has been going on for about six years, is different than in years past in that it will continue further into September and is during the week vs. the weekend.

Geary said there will be drawings for prizes for those who turn in regular mileage to the hospital. She expects that as in the past, anywhere from 300 to 600 people will sign up.

The program is free.

People may sign up at the time of the event or at the administration office at SMH. For more information, call 743-1562, ext. 332.
