A Livermore Falls man posts property to gain release of

co-defendant Joshua Osborne.

FARMINGTON – A pregnant Farmington woman pleaded innocent Thursday to an attempted murder charge in connection with her boyfriend allegedly shooting his mother last month.

Donna Enman, 26, also pleaded innocent to two counts of hindering apprehension or prosecution for allegedly helping Joshua Osborne, 22, hide guns and lying to police about his whereabouts after the shooting.

Osborne is accused of shooting his mother, Janette Osborne, once in the chest while she was hanging laundry July 7 at the family farm. Two other shots were fired, but they missed her as she was fleeing the scene to drive herself to a Farmington hospital for treatment.

Gerard Castonguay of Livermore Falls put up more than $500,000 in property in Androscoggin and Kennebec counties as bail to gain Osborne’s release from jail Wednesday.

State prosecutor James Andrews argued Thursday that bail for Enman should remain the same at $100,000 cash or $200,000 surety. Andrews said Enman had returned from living in Florida in May and had known about Osborne’s plans to kill his mother before and during the crime and not just after. Enman’s bail was raised when she was indicted on an attempted murder charge Monday.

Enman’s attorney Phillip Mohler argued for a significantly lower bail. He said she was a lifelong resident of this area and Jay. She was in Florida for a year staying with parents, one who was ill. She does have a residence to go to in West Farmington, he said.

“I don’t think she is a flight risk,” Mohler said. He also noted that the case could take a long time to resolve and that she was about six months pregnant.

Mohler also accused the state of picking and choosing things she said to police to support the attempted murder charge. He suggested that bail be set at $10,000 to $15,000 cash.

Justice John McElwee reduced Enman’s bail to $10,000 cash or $50,000 worth of real estate.

Enman remained in jail Thursday afternoon.

Castonguay put up $498,080.57 worth of real estate in Livermore Falls and $62,800 worth of real estate in Wayne to get Osborne out of jail. Osborne, who was indicted Monday on attempted murder, criminal solicitation to commit murder and elevated aggravated assault charges, is scheduled to appear in Franklin County Superior Court Sept. 2.

In signed court statements, Castonguay agreed to assure Osborne’s appearance in court and to assure he complies with release conditions and refraining from new criminal conduct.

If Osborne doesn’t appear in court or commits any criminal act or violates release conditions, Castonguay could forfeit some or all of the posted real estate.

Conditions of release for both Osborne and Enman require that they not go near Osborne Hill Road and to have no contact with each other and Janette Osborne.
