CANTON – Effective Aug. 16, the Canton post office will have new Saturday hours of operation.

The changes include new hours for the customer service window, 8 to 10:45 a.m., said Sheila Harlow, postmaster. Lobby hours for customers picking up their post office box mail will be 7:15 to 11:15 a.m.

The customer service window will be open as usual, 8 a.m. to noon, and 1:30 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, said Harlow.

The lobby hours during the week will remain the same, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for customers just picking up their post office box mail.

Window and lobby service hours are arranged to coincide with periods of peak postal activity and with postal transportation schedules, Harlow explained.

Adjustments are made to meet changing community needs based on periodic reviews of customer activity, mail volumes, transportation schedules, and operating costs, she said.
