AUGUSTA – Maine Speaker of the House Patrick Colwell, D-Gardiner, recently appointed Rep. Richard Mailhot, D-Lewiston, to a committee charged with studying the privatization of the state’s wholesale liquor business.
“I am pleased to be able to serve on this committee,” Mailhot said. “This was a divisive issue during the recent legislative session, and I hope to be able to contribute to a constructive solution to this problem.”
The study committee was created jointly by the House and Senate and will report on its findings by Dec. 3. It may recommend legislation to be presented at the second regular session of the 121st Legislature.
Rep. Mailhot represents District 86, which is part of Lewiston.
He is serving his fourth term in the Maine House and is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs.
