AUGUSTA – Rep. Sonya Sampson, D-Auburn, was recently appointed to a task force to examine staff-child ratios and maximum group size in child care facilities.

“I am pleased to be able to serve,” said Sampson. “Appropriate staff-child ratios and maximum group size in child care facilities are crucial to the development of young children and important to the parents of children who work outside the home.”

The Advisory Task Force to Examine Staff-Child Ratios and Maximum Group Size in Child Care Facilities will make recommendations to the Department of Human Services by Dec. 3. The Department will review the recommendations and submit their own recommendations to the Health and Human Services Committee by Jan. 5, 2004.

Sampson represents District 74, which is part of Auburn. She lives at 185 Sixth St. with her husband, Ray. They have two grown children.
