NORWAY – The Norway Universalist Church, UU, on Sunday, Aug. 24, will hold the final vesper service of the summer, at 7 p.m. Sallie Nealand will lead the service, which is based on the last of the seven Unitarian Universalist principles: “Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.”

There will be readings, a short message, music, discussion and examination of the depth, spirituality and complexity of belief in the interdependent web of existence.

Society open house

WATERFORD – The Waterford Historical Society will hold its annual open house at the North Waterford Museum and the Mary Gage Rice Museum from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24.

The society’s artifacts and collections will be on display and members will be available to answer questions. The North Waterford Museum is at 899 Valley Road in North Waterford. The Mary Gage Rice Museum is in the flat next to the Knight Library.

Refreshments will be served at the North Waterford site. All are welcome.

Derby scheduled

WEST PARIS – The West Paris Downhill Derby will be held Sunday, Aug. 24, with registration at 11 and the race at 1 p.m. Children from 7 to 17 are eligible and spare cars are available for new drivers. Call to reserve.

Nature outing

PARIS – The Twin Town Nature Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, in the WalMart parking lot on the south side near Route 26 to carpool to the Kennebunk Plains to see the Northern Blazing Star.

Bridge results

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge met Aug. 15 with five full tables in play. A stratified Howell movements was played. Winning in the A strat was Nick Karamessinis and Jane Fournier. Second was Eric and Marilyn Sahlberg, third was Leslie Lord and Rosemarie Goodwin and fourth was Don Hitch and Adele McDermott. In the B strat, Errol and Pam Libby came in first followed by Sue Dame-Andrews and Eleanor Griffin.

The group meets at 9 a.m. every Friday at Fare Share Commons located on Main Street. For more information call Rowena Palmer at 743-2882.
