1907 – 2003

GLENBURN – Josephine Teresa (Wrenn) Ross, 96, the wife of the late Levi Ross passed away Aug. 21, at her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Lisbon, March 7, 1907, a daughter of Michael and Mary (Chadderton) Wrenn. She grew up in Lisbon and was educated in local schools and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1924. She attended the Maine School of Commerce and worked for several years at the Auburn Print Shop.

In 1931 she married Levi M. Ross and together they ran a dairy farm and raised their family of five children in Lisbon. He passed away in 1969 but she continued to live on the family farm until 1994 when she moved to Glenburn. “Jo” fostered an appreciation for poetry and education in all she came in contact with.

Her grandchildren will always remember the gamesmanship she brought to their many games of Scrabble and the lessons learned during them.

She is survived by three sons, Levi Ross and his wife Barbara of Glenburn with whom she spent her last years, James Ross of Lisbon and special friend Jean Buck of Westbrook, Albert Ross and his wife Susan Everett of Veazie; two daughters, Mary and her husband Henry Proulx of Vernon, Conn., and Margaret (Peggy) and her husband Stephen Drottar of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; two sisters-in-law, Connie Wrenn of Lisbon and Helen Ross of Framingham, Mass.
