RUMFORD – Project NOW, Northern Oxford Wellness, is offering a free smoking-cessation class to help community members quit smoking. It will run over three weeks for a total of four sessions. Each session will be approximately one hour.

This class will be at Rumford Hospital, Room 357, on Franklin Street on the following dates: Monday, Sept. 8, 4:30-5:30 p.m.; Thursday, Sept. 11, 7-8 p.m.; Monday, Sept. 15, 4:30-5:30 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 22, 4:30-5:30 p.m. To register people can call 364-7408.

Project NOW is one of 31 Healthy Maine Partnerships funded with tobacco settlement money from the Fund for a Healthy Maine through the Partnership for A Tobacco-Free Maine of the state Bureau of Health.

It is based in Rumford as part of River Valley Healthy Communities coalition.

Project NOW educates people on the topics of tobacco, physical fitness and good nutrition. The surrounding areas benefiting from this program are the towns in SAD 43, SAD 21, Peru and SAD 44.
