WINDHAM (AP) – A man who was asked to leave a party returned with a handgun and was shot in the head during a scuffle, state police said Sunday as the victim remained in critical condition.

No arrests were made in the shooting of Charles Huntington of Windham as an investigation continued. Huntington, 33, was in critical condition Sunday at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

The shooting took place at the home of Timothy Curran, who was having a party in his garage for several co-workers including Huntington on Saturday night, spokesman Stephen McCausland of the state Public Safety Department said.

After Huntington was asked to leave, he went home, got a .38-caliber revolver and returned to Curran’s home, where an argument with Curran broke out. McCausland said the gun discharged during a scuffle between the two men.

State police received a report of the shooting at about 11 p.m. No one was immediately charged or will be until the investigation is complete and the case is reviewed by the attorney general’s office, the spokesman said.
