LISBON – Continuing a tradition that began with the class of 1942, Lisbon High School class of 1953, whose members celebrated their 50th reunion this year, have been invited to to join “The Golden Reunion,” which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Martindale Country Club, Beech Hill Road, Auburn.

Although it has a new name, it all began with the class of 1942, said Merton Ricker, when members attending their 50th reunion decided that they wanted to continue meeting annually and invite the class of 1943 to join them.

“What started out as a one-time event was such a success, the group decided to invite the next class the following year,” Ricker said. From that beginning, the annual reunion (now called “The Golden Reunion”) of the class of 1942 has grown to include more than 15 classes, with the class of 1953 being the latest to be invited.

Last year more than a hundred members and spouses from those classes attended the annual affair for food, fellowship and fun. Ricker promises this year will be just as enjoyable, and he hopes everyone will be able to join.

A social time will be from 10:30 a.m. through noon, followed by a buffet lunch at noon and entertainment. Festivities will include a “Cheerleaders Challenge,” a group photo and entertainment by the Chapel Chix.

An elevator is available for those who have difficulty navigating stairs. For further information, contact Ricker at 83 Upland Road, Lisbon Falls, 04252.
