RUMFORD – Jessica Allen scored on a crossing pass in the first half Friday to lift Mountain Valley to a 1-0 MVC field hockey win over Telstar.

Kim Clark turned away nine shots for the Falcons (1-0), while Stephanie Tripp made a pair of saves for the Rebels (0-1).

Jay 3, Georges Valley 0

THOMASTON – Jaclyn Lautz scored the first of her two goals at 14:11 of the first half on a nifty feed from Rachael Gagnon to send Jay to a 3-0 MVC win over Georges Valley.

Kristen Huard added a second-half goal on a pass from Lautz to account for the final score.

Livermore Falls 2

LISBON – Crystal Doughty converted a pass from Erica Merritt for the eventual game-winner as Lisbon held on to notch a 3-2 MVC win over Livermore Falls.

Emily Poliquin and Brittany Doughty found the net twice to give the Greyhounds (1-0) a 2-0 lead at the half. Val Richards and Rachel Ventrella each scored for the Andies (0-1) in the second half.

Mt. Ararat 1

SOUTH PARIS – Alisha Flick nailed down a pair of goals to lift Oxford Hills to a 3-1 KVAC win over Mt. Ararat.

Vikings goalie Val Seams limited the Eagles to a single goal by Michelle Sirois.

Soccer

Mtn. Valley 4, Hall-Dale 3

RUMFORD – Katie Heinzen drilled her second goal of the game with 1:31 left in overtime on an unassisted kick that found the lower left corner to lift Mtn. Valley to a 4-3 win over Hall-Dale in soccer action Friday.

Tanya Nicols added a goal in the first half to account for the Falcons (1-0) final score.

Sasha Theriault and Kaylee Rumley combined for 12 saves in net to register the win.

The Bulldogs (0-1) were led by Amy Leach, Jill Knight and Allison Galveki who each scored a goal in the loss.

Winthrop 3, Dirigo 0

DIXFIELD – Amanda Garwood, Laura Ravis and Kaitlyn Dunn each scored a goal to lift Winthrop to a 3-0 MVC win over Dirigo.

Garwood scored at 15:12 of the first half. Ravis and Dunn added goals within six minutes of each other in the second half. Katie Brooks had the shutout in goal for the Ramblers.

Edward Little 3, Lawrence 0

AUBURN – Telma Rosquete netted a pair of goals to lead Edward Little to a 3-0 shutout win over Lawrence in girls’ soccer action Friday. Heidi Dorris chipped in with a goal for the Red Eddies (1-0) to complete the scoring. Brittney French made seven saves in net for EL, while Katy Mayo turned away nine for Lawrence (0-1).

Georges Valley 2,

Lisbon 0

LISBON – Raechel Strong drilled a crossing pass from Elena Bertocci just inside the left post with 29:23 left in the second half to lift Georges Valley to a 2-0 win over Lisbon in girl’s soccer action Friday afternoon.

Rachel Campbell added an insurance goal with six minutes left on a scramble in front of the net to put the game out of reach in the season opener for both teams.

Brea Little registered the shutout turning back three shots.

Monmouth 2, Carrabec 1

NORTH ANSON – Brittany Scirica netted a goal with 32:20 left in regulation to lift Monmouth to a 2-1 win over Carrabec.

Scirica, a freshman making her first varsity start, also tallied a first-half goal for the Mustangs (1-0) in a strong debut. Courtney Barrett, another freshman, turned away eight shots in net in another strong debut.

Jessica Duhoux scored the lone goal for the Cobras (0-1), while Ashley Zikorus made 10 saves in net.
