SABATTUS – The Sabattus Elementary PTA will host its second annual Croppin’ for Kids’ Sake scrapbooking fund-raiser from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Lewiston Armory.
The day will include lunch, games, door prizes, demos, raffles, a bake sale and on-site vendors. Supplies will also be available. The first 250 participants to register will also receive a gift bag with scrapbooking products samples, coupons and other items.
Chairwoman Cindy Soucy said, “Last year’s event was great fun and a big success for us, but we’ve made it even bigger and better. We had 134 participants attend our first Croppin’ for Kids’ Sake, but that was after turning away several more because of lack of space.
“Our committee searched for a location that will provide ample space as well as a central location since last year’s participants came from 27 different towns. We are just thrilled with the Lewiston Armory. It has everything we were looking for in a venue for our crop, and we think our participants will be very excited by the new location.
“With the busy holiday season approaching, this is a great time to relax and take some time for yourself. It’s also a great chance to finish those scrapbooking gifts for loved ones or finish stamping those handmade holiday cards.”
New this year will be reserved seating, if desired, as well as a “First Day of School” theme page contest.
Proceeds will be used by the PTA to fund various educational and family activities for the students. A portion will also go toward the PTA’s campaign to raise money for extra enhancements for the new middle school, opening in the fall for 2004.
Another cause will benefit this year. Participants can earn extra door prize tickets by bringing in canned goods and non-perishable food items to be donated to the Sabattus area food pantry.
“We want our croppers to know we have lots of great door prizes and to bring in lots of food items to increase their chances of winning. We thought this would be a fun way to help another worthy cause,” said Soucy.
Lunch of sandwiches or pizza will be included. The cost is $25 if registered by Nov. 8 or $30 after. Preregistration is recommended. Registration forms can be picked up at Craft-Mania, the Memorybook Workshop or by contacting Soucy at 375-8420 or [email protected].
