AUBURN – The YMCA of Auburn/Lewiston is accepting registrations for its next sessions of Parent and Tot (6 to 18 months), Water Babies (18 to 24 months), Beginner Tiny Tots (18 to 5 years), Tiny Tots (ages 2 to 5) Youth Progressive Lessons (6 and up), and adult swim lessons.

Parent and Tot is designed to introduce infants to the water. A parent is required to participate with the child. Class is scheduled from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturdays.

Water Babies is a 15-minute class catering to the timid new swimmer and has a one-to-one child/instructor ratio. Class times are from 10 to 10:15 a.m. Mondays or Wednesdays.

Beginner Tiny Tots is a class designed to prepare little ones for group lessons without a parent being in the pool with them. The class is recommended but not required prior to enrolling in the Tiny Tot program. Class runs 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturdays.

The Tiny Tot swim program is designed to teach children to swim and feel safe around the water. Classes are offered at various times on Monday and Wednesday mornings, in the afternoon on Tuesdays and Thursdays and evening classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. All classes are 30 minutes.

Youth Progressive Lessons are taught from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays or Thursdays and from 10 to 11 a.m. or 11 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Each program runs in eight-week sessions beginning the week of Sept. 15. Class size is limited. Registration is taken on a first come-first serve basis, with minimum enrollment of eight swimmers a class. All participants must be YMCA members. A yearly (social) membership for those ages 5 and under is $18; a youth membership is $43.

The YMCA is also holding registration for its water exercise program. The exercise increases physical strength and endurance without putting stress and strain on the joints. Classes are from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class is free for those with a YMCA full privilege membership. Non-members must pay an $18 social membership fee (good for one year) and a $48 program fee for the session.

YMCA aquatic programs are designed to instill confidence in participants and make learning new skills fun and challenging in a positive way. Also, inquire about the adult lap swim, family/open swims and splash parties.
