1922 – 2003
Brunswick – Claire Y.G. Gamache, 81, of Pejepscot Terrace died Saturday, Sept. 13, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
She was born in Topsham on Aug. 5, 1922, a daughter of Armand and Alice Rochefort Helie. She was educated in Brunswick schools and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1938.
She married Ernest Gamache Jr. on July 5, 1941, and they made their home in Brunswick.
She worked at Senter’s Department Store for several years and later for Health-tex until her retirement.
She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends at Pejepscot Terrace.
She is survived by one daughter, Lucie and her husband Mickie Harris of Auburn; two sons, Dick and his wife Penny Gamache of Durham, and Bob and his wife Lauren Gamache of Durham; a sister, Pauline LaMarque of Topsham; two brothers, Robert Helie of Topsham, and Ovila Helie of Brunswick; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, who died April 30, 1976; one son, Roger Gamache, who died Feb. 11, 1980; and one brother, Maurice Helie.
