MIAMI – Frank Gore ran for 134 yards and a touchdown as No. 2 Miami beat winless East Carolina 38-3. The Hurricanes extended the nation’s longest home winning streak to 24 games.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Craig Krenzel hit Michael Jenkins on a 7-yard scoring pass in the third overtime and No. 3 Ohio State made a goal-line stand to beat No. 24 North Carolina State 44-38.

LOS ANGELES – Matt Leinart threw two touchdown passes and Southern California’s defense held Hawaii’s Timmy Chang in check until late in the game as the fourth-ranked Trojans beat the Warriors 61-32 .

AUSTIN, Texas – Matt Jones kept Arkansas rolling through the air and on the ground, making the Razorbacks’ return to Texas a huge success with a 38-28 victory over the No. 6 Longhorns.

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Darren Sproles ran for 152 yards and three touchdowns and backup quarterback Jeff Schwinn passed for 228 yards as No. 7 Kansas State beat Massachusetts 38-7.

No. 8 Georgia 31, No. 25 S. Carolina 7

ATHENS, Ga. – Reggie Brown helped No. 8 Georgia end its three-year touchdown drought against South Carolina, catching two short scoring passes and setting up another TD with a reception to lead the Bulldogs past the No. 25 Gamecocks 31-7.

PITTSBURGH – Brandon Miree ran for three touchdowns and Rod Rutherford threw for three, helping No. 11 Pittsburgh withstand a sluggish start and beat Ball State 42-21.

MADISON, Wis. – Jamaal Brimmer returned a fumble for a score, set up two touchdowns with his first two career interceptions and had two sacks as UNLV stunned No. 14 Wisconsin 23-5.

Washington St. 47, No. 17 Colorado 26

BOULDER, Colo. – Sammy Moore caught a 74-yard touchdown pass and returned a kickoff 97 yards for a score as Washington State used big plays to beat No. 17 Colorado 47-26.

No. 18 Nebraska 18, Penn St. 10

LINCOLN, Neb. – Josh Davis ran for a career-high 179 yards and Jammal Lord added 100 as No. 18 Nebraska beat Penn State 18-10.

The Cornhuskers (3-0) ran on all but six of their plays from scrimmage, piling up 337 yards on the ground. David Dyches kicked four field goals for the second straight game.

Nebraska ran the ball on 16 straight plays and scored the go-ahead TD in the third quarter.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – DeShawn Wynn tied a Florida school record with four touchdowns Saturday night to help the 19th-ranked Gators to a 63-3 victory over Florida A&M.

Purdue 16, No. 20 Wake Forest 10

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Ben Jones kicked three field goals and Purdue held No. 20 Wake Forest to 244 yards in a 16-10 victory, spoiling the Demon Deacons’ first game as a ranked team in more than a decade.
