The former EL coach will oversee the Huskies’ men’s basketball team.

GORHAM- Karl Henrikson, the former men’s basketball coach at the University of Maine at Presque Isle and p boys’ coach at MCI, has been named the new head men’s basketball coach at the University of Southern Maine.

The 47-year-old Henrikson becomes the university’s 15th men’s basketball coach, succeeding Dan Costigan who resigned in August.

“It is a true pleasure to return to the University of Southern Maine after 25 years. I welcome the opportunity to guide the program to the level of success that it enjoyed in the early 1990’s,” said Henrikson, who also coached the Edward Little boys’ basketball team.
