FARMINGTON – Matt Salyer found the back of the net on his third attempt of the match to lift the University of Maine at Machias to a 1-0 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington in the 96th minute of play in men’s soccer action Tuesday. The Clippers (4-3) had many opportunities to score, tallying a team total of 15 shots to the Beavers’ (2-1) five.

Pat Morgan collected a pair of saves in goal for the Clippers, while Noah Peet stopped six for the Beavers.

HENNIKER, N.H.- Sophomore Jessica Hanson scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lift the New England College Pilgrims to a 2-1 triumph over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in non-league action Tuesday afternoon.

Hanson’s second goal of the contest was the result of a scramble in front of the net in the 10th overtime minute. Freshman Megan Simula collected a loose ball in front of USM keeper Jess Superchi and flicked a pass to Hanson, who directed the ball into the open net.

WATERVILLE- Junior All-American forward Wendy Bonner scored unassisted for what turned out to be the game-winning goal to give Colby College a 1-0 field hockey victory over St. Joseph’s Tuesday afternoon.

Bonner has punched in five goals and earned three assists in four games this season.

Colby first-year goalies Molly Rice and Jess Laniewski combined to record the shutout.
