POLAND – Jess Moser fired an unassisted goal at 19:06 of the second half for the eventual game-winner as Poland notched a 2-0 win over Traip Academy in WMC field hockey action Monday.
The win was the first by Poland (1-4) in more than a year.
Knights attacker Mallory Huskins ran the ball down the wing on a breakaway before feeding it across field, where Moser picked up the loose ball and rifled it into the back of the net for the first goal.
Becky Lindquist scored an insurance tally on a relay from Jessy Hodgkiss less than three minutes later to secure the first Poland win after a long drought.
Paige Dubay made 10 saves in net for the Rangers, while Rachel Sheloske stopped 14 for the Knights.
Jay 3, Livermore Falls 1
LIVERMORE FALLS – Ashley Brooks notched a pair of unassisted goals to lead Jay to a 3-1 win over Livermore Falls in field hockey action Monday afternoon.
Jaclyn Lautz chipped in with a goal for the Tigers (2-5) win as well.
The Andies (0-6-1) were led by Cassandra Purrington, who scored off a pass from Erica Gatz.
Kaylie DeMillo made four saves for Jay. In net for Livermore Falls was Sam Whiting who made 16 saves.
