WINTHROP – Winthrop’s Nikki Emery converted a pass from the right and knocked it into the Lisbon net to score the winning goal late in the second half to lead Winthrop to a 3-1 victory over Lisbon in a Mountain Valley Conference field hockey game Friday.

Emery also scored on a penalty kick for the Ramblers (7-1). Elyse Cole completed the scoring Winthrop scoring.

Erica Merit scored the lone goal for Lisbon (4-5).

York 3, Gray-NG 1

GRAY – Bethany Marshall booted the go-ahead goal during a scramble in front of the net to lift York to a 3-1 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in field hockey action Friday.

The Patriots (0-8) scored the only goal of the first half when Christa Carlson converted a pass from Katie Gill at the 15:14 mark. The Wildcats offense picked up some steam in the second half behind a goal from Michaela Franey and a pair in quick succession from Marshall to retake the lead and seal the win.

Alyssa Clark made 12 saves in net for the Patriots, while Kristen Root had three for the Wildcats.

Mtn. Valley 3, Dirigo 0

RUMFORD – Jessica Allen and Amanda Gallant scored goals in the first half to spark Mountain Valley to a 3-0 victory over Dirigo.

Sam Johnson completed the scoring with a goal with seven seconds left in the game.

Kim Clark stopped the lone Cougar shot to record the shitpur for the Falcons (6-2).

Danni Tompkins had five saves for Dirigo (0-7).

Oxford Hills 1, Gardiner 0

GARDINER – Oxford Hills’ Steph Piirainen headed in a corner kick in the first half for the game’s only goal as Oxford Hills blanked Gardiner 1-0 in girls’ soccer action Friday.

The Vikings’ (4-4) goalie Marcy Darcy recorded three saves, while the Tigers’ Lindsay Thorton stopped 12 shots.
