1911 – 2003

FALMOUTH – Walter A. Berube Sr., 92, formerly a resident of Lewiston died peacefully Friday, Oct. 3, at Sedgewood Commons.

He was born in Lisbon on May 19, 1911, the son of Hormidas and Florida (Beaudoin) Berube.

He was educated at the Perkins Institute for the blind in Watertown, Mass.

Mr. Berube married Lucienne Couturier of Lewiston and she died in 1958. He Later then married Mabel Williams of Portland and she died in 1991.

He was a former member of the Elks Club, Montagnard Club and the Eagles Club.

He was an accomplished acrobat having won several ribbons and laurels.

He had the honor of meeting Helen Keller at the Perkins Institute.

Mr. Berube was very sociable and had a great sense of humor. Also he loved music of the big band era.

He is survived by four daughters, Mary Ann Berube of Portland, Constance Boggs of Phoenix, Ariz., Flora Cyr and her husband Rene of Turner and Florence Berube of Portland; three sons, Lionel Berube of Portland, Francis Berube of North Conway, N.H., and Dr. Barney Berube of Augusta; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one son, Walter Berube Jr. in March of 1986.
