Kelsey LeGloahec deposits the game-winner for Lisbon.
LISBON – Kelsey LeGloahec punched in the game winning goal with 8:49 left to go in the second half as the Greyhounds upset the Ramblers 2-1 in field hockey action Wednesday. Winthrop (10-2) had a goal from Steff Conbory.
Lisbon’s other goal came from Brittany Doughty. Both goals for Lisbon (7-5-1) were from freshmen.
Fryeburg 1, G-NG
GRAY – Bryane Hennessey netted an unassisted goal with 19:51 remaining in the second half to lift Fryeburg to a 1-0 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in WMC field hockey action. Ashley Rogers turned away eight shots in net to earn the win.
Alyssa Clark made an impressive 15 saves for the Patriots (1-10).
Hebron 2, Gould 2
BETHEL – Monet Fournier-Brazier netted a pair of goals for mighty Hebron, but Gould answered with a pair of its own as the two schools played to a 2-2 tie in field hockey action Wednesday afternoon.
Gould received goals from Mallory Ricker and Susy Sams. The teams played two five-minute, overtime periods, but neither could manage a goal.
Boothbay 2, Livermore Falls 2
LIVERMORE FALLS – Livermore Falls scored the first two goals in the first half, but Boothbay (4-7-1) came back with two of its own in the second half to earn a 2-2 tie with the Andies (0-10-2).
Valen Richard and Erica Gats scored a goal each for Livermore Falls, and Siona Kerr and Nicole Williams each had a goal for Boothbay.
St. Dom’s 4, Poland 0
POLAND – Erica Dorso led a four-player assault on the net Wednesday as St. Dom’s continued its stellar season with a 4-0 shutout over Poland in a WMC field hockey matchup.
Melinda Hoyt, Nicole Simon and Elicia Dorso tallied single goals for the Saints (11-0) to complete the scoring. Alyssa Vallee stood silent in net, needing no saves to notch the win as Poland’s offense was nonexistent.
Rachel Schloske turned away 20 of 24 shots in net for the Knights (1-10).
Soccer
Rangeley 1, Buckfield 0
BUCKFIELD – Rangeley’s Rosie Lapointe scored the only goal of the game as the Lakers (7-1-1) shutout the Bucks 1-0 in EWC girls soccer Wednesday.
Shayna Shakeford had an outstanding game with 18 saves for the Bucks (4-6-1).
Boys’ soccer
Telstar 4, Winthrop 0
BETHEL – Telstar scored four goals in the first half and never looked back as the Rebels (6-3-2) shutout the Ramblers 4-0 in MVC varsity boys’ soccer Wednesday.
Telstar received goals from Peter Poor, Sean Saddigan, Kurt Zinchuck and Kurt Wight.
Winthrop’s (3-8) goalie Mike Gingras made six saves.
Monmouth 2, Lisbon 1
MONMOUTH – Monmouth scored two goals in the first half and only gave up one in the second half as the Mustangs (9-3) held on to beat the Greyhounds, 2-1, in boys’ soccer action Wednesday.
Mark Wade scored a goal and earned an assists for Monmouth. For Lisbon (5-6), John Sheratte scored on a penalty kick in the second half.
Buckfield 4, Rangeley 3
RANGELEY – Mark Smith and Tyler Campbell scored two goals apiece to lead Buckfield to a 4-3 win over Rangeley in EWC soccer action Wednesday.
Jeremy Stevens turned back an astounding 24 shots in net for the Bucks (5-6).
Trevor Gray, Jimmy Goodwin and RJ Thompson tallied single goals for the Lakers (6-3-2) in a solid offensive effort. Dustin Deschene made 14 saves in net in the loss.
