LEWISTON – Spc. Christopher J. Gamblin, a Lewiston native, is here for a visit with his wife and daughters from Kansas. They will be in the area from Sunday through Sunday, Oct. 12 to 19.

Gamblin enlisted in the Army at age 17 in 2000. He was stationed in Fort Riley, Kan., in September 2000. He married Renee Gauthier in March 2001. They have two daughters, Karihana and Kylie Gamblin.

Gamblin shipped out in February and served with HHC 937th Engineer Group (Combat) 3rd Infantry Division as a supply clerk and armorer. His unit was one of the first to enter Iraq. He returned to Kansas on Aug. 30 and has been assigned to Fort Jackson, S.C.

He kept a journal while he served in Iraq, and a photo of his family was taped to his gun to remind him of why he was there.
