1947 – 2003

AUBURN – Charles Thomas Moody, 55, of 1350 Turner St., died Tuesday, Oct. 28, at his home.

Born in Lewiston Nov. 17, 1947, a son of Kenneth I. and Regina L. LaRoche Moody. He attended Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in the Class of 1966.

Mr. Moody was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish where he served in the choir and as an altar boy. He worked in funeral service for the past 35 years with the professional staff of The Fortin Group -Teague Funeral Home. Serving families with compassion, gentleness and caring manner was his way.

His sense of humor, community involvement and strong work ethic will be greatly missed.

His involvement with the Masons began when he was Raised in Ashlar Lodge 105 A.F. & A. M. Oct. 5, 1981, served as Master of Ashlar Lodge in 1986, currently serving as Secretary, Past Thrice Potent Master in Lewiston Lodge of Perfection, member of the cast in Auburn Council Princes of Jerusalem,

member of H.H. Dicky Chapter Rose Croix, Maine Consistory Valley of Portland 32nd Degree, Secretary Brad Chapter 9 Royal Arch Masons, Dunlap Council 8 Royal & Select Masters, currently serving as Illustrious Master, Lewiston Commandery 06 Knights Templar, currently serving as Recorder, Kora Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Kora Arab Patrol, Past President Kora Kraftsman Degree Team, Past Sovereign Eusebius Conclave 03 Red Cross of Constantine, Dirigo York Rite College. Served as President of the Lewiston-Auburn Masonic Assn., Trustee to the Lewiston-Auburn Masonic Assn. Member of The Cryptic Rite Medical Research Committee for The Grand Council of Maine, Androscoggin County Shrine Club, served on the Board of Directors, Androscoggin Valley Square & Compass Club. Currently serving as Ambassador for The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite for The Valley of Lewiston – Auburn, Maine Lodge of Research, Past Patron of Pine Cone Chapter 26 Order of Eastern Star and member of Put Stevens Court Royal Jesters, and member of The 23rd District Masonic Players, served as Grand Steward of The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Maine. He was currently President of Auburn Masonic Association. He also was a member of the 3rd Degree Holy Family Parish Knights of Columbus Council 10019 of Lewiston and 4th Degree Rev. Peter J. Conroy Assembly, Auburn-Lewiston Kiwanis Club having served as Secretary and on the Board of Directors, Lewiston Lodge of Elks, Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce. He volunteered for W.C.B.B. Public Television.

He was a past Mason of the Year in the 23rd Masonic District. On June 12, he was informed upon the unanimous recommendation of the presiding officers in the Scottish Rite Valley, that he had been elected unanimously by the Maine Council of Deliberation to receive the Meritorious Service Award on behalf of the Supreme Council Ancient Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America. This honor is in recognition of his long devoted and meritorious service to his Valley. It was to be presented to him at the next meeting to be held at the Valley of Bangor on June 4, 2004, and was going to be invested with the jewel of his office.

He is survived by his mom and dad, five sisters, Linda Carlin and husband John, Cheryl Corvinus and husband Howard, Nancy Fortin and husband Mike, Debra Hybarger and husband Ken, Susan Mueller and husband Chuck, a brother, Kenneth W. Moody all of Arizona; in addition to his Funeral Home and Masonic family he is survived by a dear friend, Florence Frechette.
