FARMINGTON – Detective Marc Bowering has been selected as the Farmington Police Department’s Employee of the Quarter for the summer of 2003. Police Chief Richard E. Caton III, said Bowering was chosen for his work as the department’s investigator and for his community policing work. Two cases this summer were resolved as a result of his efforts, Caton said. Last summer, Bowering and his father organized a softball game to raise money for the Special Olympics program.

Doctor to speak

WILTON – Dr. Laurel Coleman, a geriatric specialist with a particular interest in the treatment of people with Alzheimer’s, will be the speaker at the next Alzheimer’s Support Group at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at SeniorsPlus. Coleman practices in the Augusta area.

A frequent speaker at seminars, she was a panel member of Maine PBS’ “On Our Own Terms: End of Life Care in Maine.” The group meet the first Wednesday of the month at SeniorsPlus on routes 2 and 4. Family members, friends and caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s type of dementia are welcome to attend.
