1923-2003
LEWISTON – Maurice Joseph Guerrette, 80, of Lewiston died Sunday, Nov. 2 at Central Maine Medical Center after a long illness.
He was born in Caribou, on May 20, 1923, the son of Cyrille and Anna Guerrette. He was educated in Lewiston schools.
He joined the US Army in 1943 and served his country during World War II. Maurice married Muriel Champagne on June 23, 1947.
He worked as a carpenter and millwright until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post 22. Maurice was a member of Holy Cross Parish for 70 years.
He is survived by: his wife of 56 years and their children, Richard of West Bath, Diane Cloutier and her husband, Richard of Lewiston, Louise Bouley and her husband Maurice of Greene, Anita Tanguay and her husband Gerry of Lewiston, Pauline Albert of Lewiston, Maurice Jr., of Lewiston, and Irene Guerrette of New Gloucester; three sisters, Marie Jeanne Therriault of Hartford, CT., Elaine Samson and her husband, Edouard of Lewiston; Rita Nowakowski of East Hampton, MA; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Patrick and Gerry Guerrette.
