LEWISTON – A Monmouth man was arrested Wednesday, charged with aiming a gun at a car in what police described as a road rage incident.

Bradley Koenigseker, 39, of 55 Perkins Road was charged with two counts of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon in the 4 p.m. incident on Lisbon Street.

Police said a 9 mm handgun fell out of Koenigseker’s jacket as two officers were trying to arrest him on Lisbon Street near Maple Street. The gun was loaded, police said.

Investigators who searched the suspect’s pickup truck also confiscated a folding knife, a hatchet and a wooden club.

Police began looking for the suspect’s truck minutes before 4 p.m. when a caller reported the driver had threatened him with a gun.

Investigators said the incident began when Koenigseker drove his pickup close to the rear end of a car in front of him on outer Lisbon Street.

As both vehicles continued toward the downtown area, the driver of the car tried to pull away from the truck.

“They played cat and mouse coming into Lewiston. At some point, the suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim,” said police Lt. Michael McGonagle. “The victim then pulled to the side of the road and called us.”

Minutes after the incident was reported, police officers spotted Koenigseker driving on Lisbon Street into the downtown area.

Police stopped the truck just short of Maple Street but said Koenigseker did not immediately cooperate with the officers trying to arrest him.

Officers Eric Syphers and Tom Murphy scuffled with Koenigseker in the road until the suspect was handcuffed. Police said it was during the scuffle that the loaded 9 mm fell into the street.

Koenigseker was charged with two counts of criminal threatening because the car he allegedly aimed the gun at was occupied by a driver and a passenger.

He remained at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn Wednesday night.
