1915 – 2003
LEWISTON – Andrew L. Dupere, 88, a longtime resident of 199 Andrew Drive, Auburn, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, after a long battle with leukemia. He was surrounded by his family and will be sadly missed as a supportive husband, hard working provider and a one of a kind Pepere.
He was born in Lewiston, Feb. 9, 1915, the son of Pierre and Sophie (Thibodeau) Dupere. He was a carpenter for over 50 years, having worked for Stewart and Williams in Augusta and later with Hodgkins Inc. in Auburn.
He was a member of the First Auburn Senior Citizens at Hasty Community Center, Pettengill Park for 18 years. He was also a former member of the East Auburn Men’s Club and the Jacques Cartier Carpenters Union for 22 years.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Florence Nadeau of Auburn, whom he married on Sept. 4, 1939; three sons and their wives, Lucien and Gigi Dupere of Lewiston, Gil and Patricia Dupere and Normand and Pat Dupere, all of Auburn; three grandchildren, Lisa Bisson and her husband, Ron of Lewiston, Tammy Dupere of Auburn and Lorraine Bowen and her husband, Don of Lewiston; four great-grandchildren, Noah and Caleb Bisson and Jessica and Morgan Bowen, all of Lewiston; and by his sister, Alexandra Dallaire of Lewiston.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Cathy Dupere on April 8, 2001; his five brothers; and six sisters.
