1915 – 2003

LEWISTON – Roger L. Denis, 88, a resident of Clover Manor, Auburn, died Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 4, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born June 20, 1915, the son of Donat and Alphonsine (Lajoie) Denis. He was educated in local schools. On Oct. 12, 1954 he married the former Alberta Latouche. Mr. Denis worked for 35 years as a presser for many dry cleaning companies, and retired in 1978 from the state capital building of Hartford, Conn., as a chief elevator operator.

He was a former member of St. Ann’s Parish in Lisbon. Mr. Denis enjoyed wood working, especially making bird houses, picture puzzles, cross word puzzles, playing cards, and board games especially Parcheesi, he also enjoyed reading old western stories. Mr. Denis was a life long Red Sox fan.

He leaves three sons, Leopold Delorme and his wife Irene of Florida, Bertrand Delorme of Connecticut, and Raymond Delorme and his wife Phyllis of Wisconsin; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Fleurange Anctil of Lewiston; two brothers, Emilien Denis and his wife Mary and Maurice Denis and his wife Yvette both of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Lucile Denis of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Alberta in May 2001; a grandson, Conrad Delorme; a great-granddaughter, Stacy Ann Robitialle; and 13 brothers and sisters.
