RANGELEY – Bill Pierce, public relations director, Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and member of the Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsmen Association, was guest speaker at the October meeting.
He showed a video of Maine trout fishing, produced by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Trout Unlimited and Florida Power and Light. The video will also be shown to visitors to the L.L. Bean indoor trout pond.
Carol Harvey accepted a gift certificate to dinner at Bald Mountain as she has retired from her many years of serving as secretary of the club.
President Don Palmer called on Linda Soucie, winner of the club’s summer raffle, to accept her certificate of two nights and three days at Lakewood Camps, Middle Dam.
Kirby Holcomb, having attended an informational meeting on the Bear Referendum, 2005, reported that the sportsmen’s board of directors voted to send $100 to the Maine Fish and Wildlife Conservation Coalition to help in their work of informing the public of the ramifications of this complex issue. The club will continue to follow this challenge to hunting in Maine closely.
The club will be hosting a follow-up to the Bass Attack Conference of last summer.
Another meeting will be held starting with a 5:30 p.m. potluck and wild game combo dinner on Thursday, Nov. 20. Meetings are open to the public and are held at the clubhouse on Old Skiway Road in Oquossoc.
