EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Scott Niedermayer had a goal and two assists, and Martin Brodeur made 18 saves for his 67th career shutout, leading the New Jersey Devils to a 5-0 victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday.

Jay Pandolfo, Jamie Langenbrunner, Brian Rafalski and Christian Berglund also scored for New Jersey, which extended its unbeaten streak to nine games (7-0-2).

LOS ANGELES – Chris Osgood recorded his 40th career shutout and Pavol Demitra scored in the first period in the St. Louis Blues’ fifth straight victory, a 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings.

The Blues, who won for the ninth time in 10 games, played without the suspended Keith Tkachuk and Doug Weigh.

Canadiens 3, Senators 2

OTTAWA – Jan Bulis scored his second goal of the game with 7:59 left and Jose Theodore made 38 saves to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators.

Bulis also scored a short-handed goal in the first to help Montreal win for the first time in three meetings with Ottawa this season. On the winner, Yanic Perreault passed the puck from behind the net to Bulis, who found himself free in the slot to backhand a shot over Patrick Lalime’s right shoulder.

PHILADELPHIA – Jeff Hackett made 24 saves, Sami Kapanen broke a scoreless tie early in the third period, and the Philadelphia Flyers won their sixth straight game to remain unbeaten at home with a 4-0 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers.

Philadelphia scored all of its goals in the final period to help Hackett pick up his third shutout of the season and the 26th of his career. Philadelphia’s home unbeaten streak reached a league-best nine games (7-0-2) and is the second-longest in franchise history. The 1979-80 team set an NHL record with 26 straight home games without a loss.

Panthers 3, Penguins 2

PITTSBURGH -Valeri Bure and Kristian Huselius each had a goal and an assist, and the Florida Panthers extended their winning streak against the Pittsburgh Penguins to seven games with a 3-2 victory.

Olli Jokinen added his team-leading seventh goal – and scored for the sixth straight game against Pittsburgh – as Florida built a 3-0 lead and held off the Penguins.

Florida goaltender Roberto Luongo lost his shutout bid 6:16 into the third period when Milan Kraft deflected a shot by Josef Melichar into the net for his third goal of the season.

Capitals 2, Hurricanes 1

RALEIGH, N.C. -Dainius Zubrus scored a power-play goal with 2:13 left and Olaf Kolzig stopped 38 shots, leading the Washington Capitals to a 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Capitals, with the fewest points in the NHL coming in, have beaten the Hurricanes twice in the last four days.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Martin Erat had a goal and two assists, and Marek Zidlicky and Vladimir Orszagh each scored power-play goals in the Nashville Predators’ 4-3 victory over the New York Islanders.

Red Wings 1, Wild 1

ST. PAUL, Minn.- Dominik Hasek made 25 saves for Detroit and Red Wings star Steve Yzerman scored a third-period goal to force a 1-1 tie with the Minnesota Wild.

Andrew Brunette scored on the power play in the second period for Minnesota.

Roloson, who stopped a penalty shot in the third and finished with 27 saves, was less than eight minutes away from his third shutout in four starts when Yzerman flipped a shot from just outside the crease into the upper right corner of the net to tie it at 1 with 7:42 left.

A pass from the circle by Chris Chelios set up Yzerman’s team-leading ninth goal.

The Red Wings have the league’s most productive power play – they entered the game with a 28.4-percent conversion rate – but the Wild scored on their second chance with an extra skater when Brunette poked his own rebound underneath Hasek’s outstretched glove.

After that, The Dominator didn’t budge.

Minnesota, 6-3-2 in its last 11 games, outshot Detroit 4-1 in overtime. Richard Park’s attempt to redirect a shot on a two-on-one failed, and Brad Bombardir’s slap shot from the blue line was stymied.

Roloson, who began the game with a .935 save percentage that ranked fourth in the NHL, faced a penalty shot early in the third after Filip Kuba tripped Pavel Datsyuk.

On the attempt, Datsyuk deked right and tried to go to the high corner, but Roloson – who made 27 saves – was there.

Nicklas Lidstrom sent a slap shot from the blue line that knocked Roloson’s mask off and bounced over the crossbar, but the first period was otherwise uneventful – the teams combined for just 13 shots on goal.

Notes: Jason Wiemer, claimed off waivers from the New York Islanders earlier this week, started at center for the Wild. … Brendan Shanahan’s streak of five straight games with a point ended. The Predators padded their lead in a messy second period that featured four fighting majors and 32 penalty minutes. Erat scored at 5:11 on a play that he started as he put back the rebound of a shot missed by Orszagh.

Then the fighting started. Jordin Tootoo checked Radek Martinek near the boards, leaving him on the ice for a few minutes. Then, Asham responded with a cross-checking penalty, the first of four straight called against the Islanders.

Nashville took a 3-0 lead when Orszagh scored on a wrister on the power play with 14:27 left in the period.

But Czerkawski tried to get the Islanders going. He took a pass from Janne Niinimaa and went at Nashville goalie Tomas Vokoun and easily beat him for his 11th goal at 17:18.

Nashville went up 4-1 as Arkhipov scored on a backhander at 7:53.

New York answered as Mapletoft got his first this year at 9:43, and Asham scored his second on a shot from the left circle to pull the Isles within 4-3 at 12:19.

Vokoun made a big stop on Czerkawski, making a stick save in the final minute, and Nashville just missed an empty-netter.
