Selectmen signed a resolution last week supporting the town’s participation in efforts to consolidate services within Androscoggin County.
Although Leeds wasn’t represented at a recent meeting of county and town officials who want to find ways to forge partnerships that would be mutually beneficial, Selectman Errol Additon was named to the steering committee.
Town Administrator Jane Wheeler said the efforts are meant to find ways to save money for the taxpayers of all towns while providing critical services.

Litchfield:
1,000 voters sign
land-use petition
Selectmen have approved an application for a matching grant with the Maine Forest Service for $2,579 in state funding for land surveys of town-owned forestland.
On another matter, Town Manager Steve Musica said about 1,000 signatures supporting a land use ordinance were collected at the polls Nov. 4. Litchfield has never adopted a land use ordinance. Musica said voters are likely to consider it at the annual town meeting in 2004.
The board also appointed Carol Smith to the Conservation Commission.
